About the shelter

Kitty Safe Haven No-Kill Shelter takes in lost and/or abandoned cats and kittens. Our objective is to save these cats, provide necessary veterinary care, feed them well, nurse them to health, see to their social integration and get them ready for adoption into new “forever” homes with responsible animal-lovers. If they are not adopted, we will care for them for the rest of their natural lives. The Cat House on the Kings in California is a big inspiration and model we try to follow.

In the current economic hard times we have seen more and more animals abandoned. The discarding of unwanted animals, ignorant and careless disregard for proper care and abusive behavior is an ongoing problem, and our cat population has grown to the point where we can no longer handle all the expenses. In 2009 we chose to incorporate as a 501(c)(3) non-profit. All donations from U.S. citizens are tax-deductible.

At this time the space available at our small facility is filled to capacity with rescued cats. Eventually we would like to acquire more land and provide rescue and shelter for all kinds of animals. The founders of Kitty Safe Haven have been rescuing lost and abandoned cats and dogs for many years, but currently we only accept cats because we do not have the proper housing for dogs. But, when we do find a stray dog, we do the best we can to return it to its owner, or find it a home or at least a safe temporary space.
